Reales Checker Set

Each set is made to order and will be ready to ship within approximately 5–6 weeks.

Inspired by reales—the silver and gold coins once carried aboard Spanish galleons and later discovered among the remains of sunken shipwrecks—the Reales Checker Set reimagines a timeless game as a collection of sculptural heirlooms. Each of the 32 pieces begins as an original hand carving before being cast in solid brass and recycled aluminum using traditional techniques.

Sixteen pieces are finished with luminous genuine mother-of-pearl inlay, while the remaining sixteen feature Shelton Metal’s signature X logo. This creates a striking contrast between natural material and sculptural form. Weathered textures and coin-like silhouettes recall centuries-old treasures shaped by the sea, transforming a familiar game into an object worthy of display.

Rooted in the enduring tradition of gathering around the table, the Reales Checker Set is designed to inspire connection, conversation, and friendly competition. Each set is made to be played, displayed, passed down, and treasured as a future heirloom.
