The Ticking Tent: Our High Point Market Debut

This October marks a new chapter for Shelton Metal as we make our High Point Market debut with The Ticking Tent. From October 16–18, you’ll find us at 313 Space, sharing our world of sculptural homeware and the stories behind the metal.

Founded by communications and design industry expert Christina Juarez and interiors editor, stylist, and author Benjamin Reynaert, The Ticking Tent grew from a shared love of the hunt and a conversation over lunch at Pastis in New York. Together, they’ve created a gathering of antiques dealers, independent artisans, and distinctive brands, inviting visitors to meet the people behind the objects and discover pieces with stories of their own.

This fall marks The Ticking Tent’s first “On Tour” edition, bringing that spirit to the Moroccan Courtyard at 313 Space. The High Point event’s partners include Homes & Gardens Anthology, Sotheby’s International Realty, Benjamin Moore, Pooky, and Doyle. From the Friday evening's VIP Cocktail Hour Preview to Saturday’s early bird breakfast, the weekend offers plenty of reasons to linger, explore, and connect. We’re excited to be part of it.

As my work has grown from jewelry into objects for the home, I’ve carried the same love of detail, natural forms, and meaningful objects into each design. I think of these pieces as jewelry for the table: small sculptures that become part of everyday rituals, dinners with friends, and traditions we return to year after year. Bringing that world to High Point feels like an exciting next step in the journey.

The Ticking Tent brings together a thoughtfully selected mix of objects across home, design, fashion, and wellness, with an appreciation for craft and the pleasure of discovering something special. That spirit feels closely connected to Shelton Metal. So much of my inspiration begins with discovery—a shell, a keepsake, a shape that stays with me—and the possibility of turning it into something you can use and make your own.

There’s something special about experiencing a piece in person: feeling the weight of the metal, tracing its texture, and noticing the details as you turn it in your hands. I’m looking forward to sharing those details, talking about the inspiration behind the collections, and meeting the people who will bring these treasures into their homes, shops, and projects.

Seeing Shelton Metal in Architectural Digest feels like a dream. To sea a piece of art I created in the pages of my dream publication, alongside designers and brands I have long admired, is truly an honor. Our Shell Oyster Knife is featured in “Washed Ashore,” produced by Madeline O’Malley. This shell design has been such a meaningful part of my journey as I’ve expanded Shelton Metal into the home collection, making its inclusion especially personal. My background in art began with a love for architecture. I’ve long been drawn to the way form, texture, and materials can shape how we experience a space, and that curiosity continues to influence the pieces I create today. Architectural Digest has always been a source of inspiration, and being featured in its pages has been both a dream and a goal of mine. As Shelton Metal has grown from jewelry into objects for the home, I’ve carried that same attention to sculptural detail with me. I think of these pieces as jewelry for the table: objects made to be used, enjoyed, and treasured. The Shell Oyster Knife brings together so much of what inspires my work, the see, natural forms, and bringing functionality to sculpture. It’s easy to get caught up in the business of it all and forget to stop and appreciate the moments that once felt like distant dreams. This is certainly one of them. I’m so thankful for this moment, for how far we’ve come, and for everyone who has supported Shelton Metal along the way. There is still so much I want to create and share. Shelton Metal in ELLE Canada “12 Covetable Pieces On These Cool Designers’ Wish Lists”ELLE Canada, August 2026 A recent favorite press sighting: our Sea Spreader Set of 4 has found its way onto the pages of ELLE Canada, selected by Vancouver-based interior designer and art advisor Laurenn Machin for the magazine’s roundup of the objects currently topping designers’ wish lists. What made the feature particularly special was reading why she chose them. Machin described being drawn to pieces that feel “collected rather than overly designed,” comparing the spreaders to something that might have been discovered in a tidal pool. She also shared the memory of a large barnacle her father found years ago—giving her connection to these small, sea-worn forms an unexpectedly personal quality. She imagined using the spreaders while entertaining and then simply leaving them on the table afterward, allowing them to exist as objects in their own right. It’s an interpretation we love. Our Sea Spreaders began as hand-carved forms inspired by the strange little treasures, shells, fragments, and relics that might wash ashore. They are functional objects, but they have always been intended to feel slightly discovered, as though they already carried a story before arriving at the table. To see that exact quality recognized by someone encountering the pieces from the outside feels particularly meaningful. And being called covetable by ELLE, truly an honor! Shelton Metal at Shoppe Object: New Collections, New Connections

There is something special about returning to New York for Shoppe Object. Months of designing, carving, sampling, refining, packing, and planning all come together in a few very full days. This August, Shelton Metal returned to NYC to share our newest collections in person, reconnect with longtime retail partners, meet new buyers, and give a first look at what we've been creating for Fall 2026. Trade shows are always a reminder that while so much of our work happens quietly behind the scenes, these pieces are ultimately designed to leave the studio and become part of someone else's home, shop, hotel, restaurant, or table. New Treasures for Fall 2026 This season, we arrived at Shoppe Object with some of our most expansive new work yet. Alongside Shelton Metal favorites, we introduced new pieces from the Seaworn Collection, Olive Branch Collection, and The Game Collection, continuing our exploration of objects that feel collected, weathered, and discovered rather than simply made. From sculptural serving pieces and cocktail accessories to candleholders and solid metal game pieces, each collection approaches function a little differently while remaining rooted in the same Shelton Metal design language. Every piece begins with form. Many start as original hand carvings or objects taken directly from nature before being molded, cast in metal, and finished by hand. The result is something intentionally imperfect, tactile, and made to become more personal with use. The Game Collection Makes Its Debut One of the highlights of this year's show was officially introducing The Game Collection. Chess pieces, dominoes, checkers, and dice are reimagined in solid brass and recycled aluminum, transforming familiar games into sculptural objects for the home. The collection was inspired by the ritual of gathering around a game table, but also by the Shelton Metal world of sea worn treasures, weathered castles, strategy, nostalgia, and objects that feel as interesting displayed as they do in use. Seeing people pick up the pieces, play with them, and experience their weight and texture in person was one of my favorite parts of the show. Seeing Old Friends and Meeting New Ones More than anything, Shoppe Object is about the people. It was wonderful to reconnect with so many of our longtime retail partners and finally meet others in person after years of emails, orders, and conversations from afar. We also welcomed an incredible group of new retailers, hospitality buyers, interior designers, and members of the design press into the Shelton Metal world. There is something invaluable about having those conversations face to face. Hearing how a retailer's customers are using a piece, discovering which designs immediately catch a new buyer's attention, and talking through ideas for custom pieces and collaborations often sparks the next chapter of the collection. We left New York with new partnerships, new ideas, and Shelton Metal treasures headed to new destinations. From Our Hands to Your Table A trade show booth exists for only a few days, but getting there takes months. Behind every display are countless sketches, samples, conversations with our artisans, packaging decisions, shipping boxes, last minute adjustments, and, of course, a little bit of chaos. Then suddenly the doors open and everything we've been working on is sitting together in one place. That's one of the things I love most about Shoppe Object. For a few days, we get to step back and see the world of Shelton Metal as a whole. Thank you to everyone who visited us in New York, to our longtime retail partners who continue to believe in what we're building, and to all of the new accounts and friends we met along the way. As we head into fall and the holiday season, we're excited to see these new collections make their way into shops and homes across the country. Until next time, NYC. We came home inspired, grateful, and ready to keep making treasures.
